CIVIL WAR ON CAPITAL HILL

By Anita Stewart for Challenging the Rhetoric and Wise Women Media
This past week the rhetoric in the corporate media was coming at us fast and furious and it was all about partisan politics, who was doing what to whom, gang fighting and definitely reminiscent of bullies and thugs on opposing sides in the school yard. Partisan bickering at it’s finest. Guaranteed to keep people glued to the news and debating around the water cooler.
Israeli Rhetoric
The GOP had invited the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu toaddress joint Houses of Congress at convenient timing planned right before Israel’s coming elections. This visit was a very obvious appeal to the US Government, and indeed, the American people to support Israel in war against Iran. This is the third time Netanyahu has spoken to Congress.
The objections from the White House were never verbalized. The President, Vice President and the Cabinet remained strangely quiet and did not attend.
Some Democrats made their thoughts on this issue quite plain also by not attending the main event. Not because they did not like Prime Minister Netanyahu or support Israel but because the GOP invited him to speak. When it comes down to the wire, the Senators and Congress will continue to support AIPAC.
Recent polls have indicated that Netanyahu is even less popular here in the US since he made his appeal for more support and war funding in the way of US tax dollars. Americans do not want to support even more war.
GOP Now Siding With The Ayatollahs
One of the biggest stories this week is the letter to the “leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran” drafted by 47 Senators who have laid out the groundwork regarding the ongoing nuclear talks by stating that any agreement made now would not be valid after this current administration is over. This continuing story can be followed under the hashtag #47Traitors on Twitter.

The letter was signed by every Senate Republican except Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker of Tennessee, Dan Coats of Indiana, Thad Cochran of Mississippi, Susan Collins of Maine, Jeff Flake of Arizona and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska.
It’s somewhat ironic to see some members of Congress wanting to make common cause with the hard-liners in Iran,” said President Obama. “It’s an unusual coalition.
Senator Harry M. Reid (D) of Nevada said the “Republicans are undermining our commander in chief while empowering the ayatollahs.
Vice President Biden has also made a public statement: CLICK HERE.
Healing The Divide? Or Blaming The Black Guy?
There seems to be liberties that have been taken by our s-elected leaders that have never been done before in our history and this is setting a precedent. This writer did not vote for Obama but the disrespect and the White House’s obvious loss of control of both the Senate and Congress is easy to see. These are the last years of Obama’s presidency and we can expect more partisan politics as time goes on. But we Americans are getting played and this question remains, who is really leading?
